My name is Isaiah Bell, and I’m a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student at UNC Greensboro. I’m leading a community-centered project designed to increase CPR readiness in underserved areas through free, hands-only CPR training.
How to Participate
Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time. Your responses will remain confidential, and no identifiable data will be collected.

Inclusion Criteria
You may participate if you meet all of the following:
- Attending the CPR class at Evergreen AMEZ Church
- Age 18 or older
- Live in or are actively involved in a rural/underserved area in Southeastern NC
- Identify as Black/African American or an ethnic-minority group
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Have limited or no prior CPR training
- Have sufficient cognitive and physical ability (minimum 6th-grade education)
- Willing to complete the full training program (education + optional surveys)
Exclusion Criteria
You may not participate if any of the following apply:
- Under 18 years of age
- Unable to provide written informed consent
- Not involved in a rural/underserved area in Southeastern NC
- Do not identify as Black/African American or an ethnic-minority group
- Not fluent in English
- Have prior or advanced CPR training
- Unable to complete CPR training due to cognitive/physical limitations
- Unwilling to complete the full training program
Confidentiality
Participants will be identified only by the first two letters of their first name and the last three digits of their phone number. All data will be securely stored and accessible only to the study team.
